Collection: ACC Sound Deadening & Insulation

Choose your vehicle application, then compare materials, coverage and options on each listing.

Sound deadening and insulation that goes under the carpet: vehicle-specific EVA kits, mastic with pad sets, jute pad kits and foil heat barriers. This is the layer to settle while the interior is out, matched to your car before the new flooring goes down over it.

Sound deadening is the one interior layer you can only fit properly while the seats and carpet are already out, so it belongs in the plan before new flooring arrives, not after. From the factory, the deadener was a separate layer laid down before the carpet, which is why these kits are sold by vehicle and area rather than as bulk material. This category holds three ACC material families, Corvette pad and deadener sets cut by generation, and EVA kits for muscle cars.

Three materials, three different jobs

  • EVA sound deadener - an asphaltic mastic barrier averaging about 1/8 inch thick, the style ACC describes as most common across makes and models from the 1960s to the 1980s. The Mopar kits here are four-piece; the GM kits for cars like Nova, Skylark and Grand Prix are seven-piece.
  • Mastic with pad - jute padding laminated with a thin asphaltic mastic layer, roughly 3/8 inch of pad over 1/16 inch of mastic. ACC calls this the material most commonly used in Corvettes, and the Corvette sets split by coupe or roadster and by front, rear or complete coverage.
  • Foil with pad - jute laminated with a foil backing, about 1/4 inch, used as a heat barrier at the firewall and around catalytic converters.

Coverage is cut to the car

Corvette sound deadener sets separate 1953-1962, 1963-1967, 1968-1975 and 1976-1982, and the jute pad kits separate a two-piece front kit from five-piece and eight-piece complete kits. A front kit and a complete kit are different purchases, and a Jeep Wrangler pad kit follows its own application. Match the stated years and the named areas to the work you are doing.

Do not double up by accident

Stack thickness changes how carpet fits around the tunnel, seat mounts and sill trim. Corvette shops run into this when carpet arrives with jute already attached and a mastic deadener goes under it as well; the layers were alternatives, not partners. Check what your replacement carpet includes, especially mass backing, before adding a pad kit. Finally, repair rust and water entry first: deadener laid over a damaged floor hides the problem instead of fixing it.
