Shop 1978-1981 Chevrolet Malibu cutpile molded replacement carpet kits and every other Malibu generation in one place, from the 1975 two-piece set and 1982-1983 G-body sedans to 1997-2003, Malibu Maxx wagon, and 2016-2025 three-piece kits, all molded to the factory floor pan.

One Nameplate, Four Different Floors

Malibu carpet is not one long run of the same car. This collection skips the Chevelle years entirely and starts with a 1975 2-door 2-piece cutpile kit, moves to the rear-drive G-body cars that most buyers here own, then jumps to the front-drive generations. The 1978-1981 kit covers 2-door and 4-door cars in a single 1-piece molding, and a separate 1982-1983 4-door kit closes out the G-body run. After a long gap the range resumes with 1997-2003, splits into sedan and wagon lines for 2004-2007, continues with 2008-2012, and ends with a 2016-2025 4-door kit in 3 pieces. Pick by generation first, because no two of these floors share a pan.

Malibu Classic and Malibu Maxx Are Not the Same Car

The 2004 model year is where Malibu orders go wrong. Chevrolet sold the old body as the Malibu Classic for 2004-2005 alongside the redesigned Malibu sedan, and the 5-door Malibu Maxx hatchback wagon has its own floor again, listed separately for 2004 and for 2004-2007 in LS and LT trim. Three different kits wear a 2004 Malibu label. Check the badge on the trunk and the body style before ordering, not just the year, and note that the later sedans are 4-door only.

Cutpile, Heel Pad and the Mass Backing Choice

Every kit here is cutpile, the 100 percent nylon material that has been original in most domestic cars since about 1974, tufted at 14 ounces per square yard. ACC molds each set to the contours of the specific floor pan, includes padding where padding was original, and applies the heel pad the same way the factory did. Optional mass backing adds roughly 45 mil of EVA as a heat and sound barrier, a worthwhile upgrade on the G-body cars and on high-mileage 2008-2012 daily drivers where road noise is the complaint.

Before You Pull the Old Carpet Out

Keep the old carpet until the new kit is in. It is your template for seat, belt and shifter openings, because molded kits arrive without those holes cut and trimming may be required at the edges. Photograph the rust and water stains you find, repair floor corrosion and leaks first, then trial-fit the new carpet and mark every opening before you cut anything.
