Shop a 1961 Chrysler New Yorker 2 door hardtop bench seat carpet kit, C-body loop sets and the 1983-1987 front wheel drive cutpile kits. The New Yorker name covers four different cars, so match your era, body and seat before ordering.

One Name, Four Different Cars

No page in this catalog spans more unrelated machinery. The New Yorker starts here as a full-size C-body: 1957-1958 and 1959-1961 2-door hardtop bench seat kits, 1962-1966 4-door, 1964-1966 2-door automatic and the combined 1967-1973 2-door and 4-door listing. It continues as the downsized 1974-1978 and 1979-1981 4-door, shrinks again for the single 1982 4-door kit, then turns front wheel drive for 1983-1987 and 1988-1990, and finishes with the 1994-1996 4-door. A kit from any one era fits nothing in the others.

The Hardtop Bench-Seat Years, 1957-1966

The earliest listings are the most specific: 2-door hardtop, bench seat, spelled out in the title, exactly as ranking sellers title them, 1961 Chrysler New Yorker 2 door hardtop bench seat carpet. The 4-door gets its own molding for 1962-1966, and the 2-door automatic is listed separately for 1964-1966. Sellers of the shared C-body kits often title them 1963-1971 Chrysler 300 and Newport instead, so a New Yorker owner searching only his own nameplate can miss that the same floorpan wears three badges. The molding follows the floor, not the badge.

Loop to Cutpile in 1974

Material follows the calendar. Every kit through the 1967-1973 listing is loop, the original material in most domestics before about 1974, and every kit from 1974-1978 onward is cutpile, through the front wheel drive years and the 1994-1996 cars. A cutpile set in a 1965 New Yorker or a loop set in a 1976 car is a year error, not an upgrade, and it is the fastest way to spot a wrong listing.

When the Kits Shrink From Two Pieces to One

Piece count tracks the eras too. All the C-body and seventies kits are 2-piece, front and rear sections with a bound overlap, built to the pattern rival sellers describe for C-body loop kits: pre-molded, jute padding where original, dimmer switch grommet included, trimming may be required. From 1982 on, every New Yorker kit is 1-piece, including both front wheel drive ranges and the 1994-1996 listing, so the later cars install as a single molded lay-in. Whichever era yours is, order samples for colors besides black and buy all carpet at once, because dye lots vary.
